At Ashland Ranch Elementary, our community is guided by one phrase: “Every kid – every day!” In Kindergarten, when our youngest students take their first steps into the school community, we focus on creating an environment that supports students inside and outside of the classroom.
From morning routines to the end of the day, our teachers guide students through activities that build a close-knit group where every child feels they belong. Here is what everyday life looks like for our kindergarteners:
- Learning Milestones: Kindergarten students grow tremendously throughout the year! Students dive into reading and writing, and by the end of the school year, they are able to read books on their own and write down their thoughts. Teachers work closely with each child to help them focus and build confidence in their new skills.
- Creativity & Play: Learning happens both at desks and on the move. Kindergarteners participate in regular rotations through Art, Music, Library, and P.E., which quickly becomes a favorite time for running and staying active. Recess also provides plenty of time for cooperative games like soccer on the playground.
- Options for All: We know that families look for different schedules and environments for their child's introduction to school. To support our youngest learners right where they are, we offer different pathways, including traditional Full-Day Kindergarten, Kindergarten Prep, and Gifted Kindergarten Prep.
